The interim edition of Mizmor 089 was updated today (Thursday, December 11). This limited edition now covers the first 36 of the 53 verses that make up the mizmor.The newly added verses continue with the theme of Hashem’s commitment to David. There is a proviso that if David’s descendants are guilty of sin they will be punished. However, even while executing judgment, the discipline Hashem imposes will prepare the House of David for its future role. Hashem gives His promise that even if David’s descendants do not keep their half of the covenant, He will keep His part, so that the throne will always belong to one of Davidic descent.
